INDIANAPOLIS (AP) _ Indianapolis police have released the name of a man fatally shot when he exchanged gunfire with officers during a traffic stop.
Police say 24-year-old William E. Morris of Indianapolis was fatally shot Tuesday night after he fired at an officer, wounding him.
The Indianapolis Star reports that Indianapolis police officer Bryan Zotz was shot in his lower arm and wrist during the struggle. Zotz was listed in a good condition Wednesday at Methodist Hospital.
Officers pulled Morris’ vehicle over Tuesday night and found that he had a suspended license.
In the exchange of gunfire that followed, police said a man and woman in Morris’ car suffered gunshot wounds in their legs. Two others in the car were detained for questioning.
