INDIANAPOLIS (AP) _ A predawn, two-alarm fire at an apartment complex on the Indianapolis northwest side has left more than two dozen people without homes.
Indianapolis Fire Departmewnt spokesman Lt. Larry Tracy says the first crews arriving on the scene of the fire about 4 a.,m Wednesday found flames shooting through the roof of the Stratford Apartments near the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
Luis Rojas says he was sleeping when he heard someone say the building was on fire. He got out of bed and started knocking on doors.
No injuries were reported.
Fire officials said 26 residents were displaced from their homes and apartment managers were working to provide them with shelter.
Investigators estimated that the fire caused $250,000 in damages.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
