INDOT Officials Apologize for Robocalls

INDIANA, (WOWO): Officials with the Indiana Department of Transportation are apologizing for robocalls, some of which woke people up in the middle of the night.

A statement from INDOT says it was working with a research firm to conduct a survey on how INDOT could provide better customer service. But because of what INDOT called a “programming mistake”, several households got the automated calls in the early morning hours.

“For that we are very sorry,” the statement said. “It was in no way our intent to disturb anyone at that time of day. Hoosier motorists are our most important customers and it is our goal to provide the best service to them.”

INDOT says it is working with the research company to fix the problem. Ironically, the calls came on the same day that Attorney General Greg Zoeller's office asked the public to submit comments on the FCC's plan to reduce the number of unwanted robocalls and phone scams by allowing phone companies to use call-blocking technology.
