FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): The opening date for a pedestrian bridge connecting the Purdue Fort Wayne and Ivy Tech Community College campuses has been delayed once again.

It’s called the Parker Cole Crossing and has been under construction for a while, with an opening date initially set for June. But the Journal Gazette reports that date is now “undetermined” as INDOT wants to do additional testing on the bridge, which stretches over Coliseum Boulevard.

Facilities Management director Greg Justice says this amount of testing is common, as everyone involved wants to make sure the $4.5-million bridge is safe and meets the highest standards.

The bridge, which also had a slight delay due to lighting issues, is reportedly 95% complete.
