INDIANAPOLIS (AP): Indianapolis Animal Care and Control is making the rounds to ensure animals aren't being left outside in the cold for too long.
 
The department has investigated more than 140 cases of pets left out in the cold since last Saturday. WISH-TV reports animal control officers confiscated pets from their owners in at least 17 of those investigations.
 
Officer Jerry Kellems has been telling pet owners their animals shouldn't spend more than 20 minutes outside when temperatures are near or below zero degrees.
 
He says if it's too cold for people to be outside with jackets, hats and gloves, then it's too cold for animals as well.
