Indiana Woman Spent More than 1 Hour in Storm Shelter

KOKOMO, Ind. (AP) – A Kokomo woman who spent more than an hour in her backyard storm shelter during Sunday's severe weather outbreak says she's relieved her home didn't suffer major damage.

Oklahoma native Jennifer Harless says she'd been in her storm shelter several times, but Sunday was the first time she had to seek shelter in it when a suspected tornado roared through the city about 60 miles north of Indianapolis.

The storm uprooted a big tree in her yard and damaged her home's roof, but Harless says she's fine because she didn't lose her home or personal possessions like one of her neighbors.

A one-story ranch home directly behind Harless' home had its entire roof ripped off by the storm and its property was littered with tree branches, aluminum siding and insulation.
