Indiana University Planning $10M Marching Band Building

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (AP) _ Indiana University officials are planning a new $10 million building for the school's Marching Hundred Band on the Bloomington campus.

The 30,000-square-foot facility would be built just south of Assembly Hall and Memorial Stadium on the campus' northern end.

The Herald-Times reports (http://bit.ly/1lsEaE2 ) the proposal calls for a 6,000-square-foot rehearsal space, along with two smaller rehearsal rooms and space for instrument and uniform storage and repair. The project would be paid for with donations to the IU Foundation.

The Marching Hundred Band performs at home football games and some other events.

A vote on approving the project is expected during the IU Board of Trustees meeting on Friday.
