Indiana Trooper Injured Investigating I-65 Crash

INDIANAPOLIS (AP): Indiana State Police say a trooper has been injured while investigating a crash on Interstate 65 in southern Indiana.

Sergeant Noel Houze Junior says the trooper was injured Sunday afternoon in Bartholomew County, about 30 miles south of Indianapolis. He says details of the trooper's injuries weren't immediately available. The crash was believed to be weather-related.

Bartholomew was among 11 southern Indiana counties posting travel watches recommending only essential travel after a winter storm dumped freezing rain and snow.

Three northwestern Indiana counties also had travel watches in effect Sunday, and more than 30 counties across the state posted advisories urging motorists to use caution.

The National Weather Service says a winter storm warning was due to remain in effect for the southern half of the state until Monday morning.
