Indiana Supreme Court Will Hear Bowling Ball Battery Appeal

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): A Fort Wayne man convicted of throwing a bowling ball at his girlfriends head will have his appeal heard by the Indiana Supreme Court later this month.

42 year old Leonard Suggs showed up drunk to a family reunion at the Thunder Bowl on Lafayette Street in August of 2014, according to Fort Wayne police. He reportedly threw a beer can at his girlfriend, and then a bowling ball that missed the girlfriend, but hit another woman's head. Then, Suggs attacked his girlfriend…all while children were present.

Suggs was convicted of domestic battery by a jury in December 2014, then lost an appeal with the Indiana Court of Appeals earlier this year where he claimed the state did not prove that his girlfriend lived with him or that the woman hit by the bowling ball was related to him.

This week, the Indiana Supreme Court announced will hear Suggs' appeal at Portage High School on October 30th.
