Indiana Supreme Court Suspends Muncie Judge

MUNCIE, Ind. (AP) _ The Indiana Supreme Court has suspended a Muncie City Court judge facing misconduct allegations.

The order signed by Chief Justice Loretta Rush on Thursday suspends Judge Dianna Bennington indefinitely with pay.

The Indiana Commission on Judicial Qualifications asked for Bennington's suspension Monday. It says Bennington has been on a voluntary leave of absence since late September and hasn't responded to the commission's subpoenas or told other Delaware County judges whether she intends to return to the bench.

The judicial commission filed 13 disciplinary charges against Bennington last week. Those include charges that she had public confrontations with the father of her children and referred to his girlfriend with a racial slur.

A telephone message seeking comment was left with the court Thursday.

Bennington, a Democrat, was elected in 2011.
