Indiana State Trooper saves life with Narcan kit

BLUFFTON, Ind. (WOWO): An Indiana State Police Trooper may have saved the life of a Bluffton man on Wednesday afternoon.

At about 3:28 p.m., police responded to the 8700 block of south S.R. 1 on reports of a physical fight. When officers arrived, they found a wanted man, Josh L. Miller. They took Miller into custody. As Miller began to walk through the house, his legs started shaking and he collapsed, according to the Indiana State Police.

Trooper Anthony Repass and Deputy Jeremy Heckel helped Miller to the floor. Miller went into a convulsion and was slipping in and out of consciousness. During that time, the officers learned Miller had recently taken heroin.

When Miller went unresponsive, Repass administered a nasal spray dose of Narcan. The drug revived Miller and he started breathing normally.

He was hospitalized for further treatment. Narcan is a medicine that blocks the effects of opioids and reverses an overdose.

This is a story that needs to be aired over the national news channels…The police need to have some positive media coverage, showing that these men and women do care about the people they are serving, no matter what their background or issues are.
