NORTHEAST INDIANA, (WOWO) – As inclement weather approaches, Indiana State Police are planning to tow abandoned vehicles along State, Interstate and U.S. Highways.

In most cases, police allow for a 24-72 hour window for abandoned vehicles to be removed before towing, but due to approaching weather, all vehicles will be towed without prior notice.

All major highway systems in the following 11 counties will be given priority:

  • LaGrange County
  • Steuben County
  • Noble County
  • DeKalb County
  • Whitley County
  • Allen County
  • Huntington County
  • Wells County
  • Adams County
  • Blackford County
  • Jay County

The vehicles will be towed to reduce risk to other drivers, and allow for snow removal equipment to safely clear the roadways.

If your vehicle is towed, contact the Fort Wayne Post at (260) 432-8661 for assistance.

The Indiana State Police also wish to remind drivers to take extra time when getting to their destinations this weekend, and to leave an appropriate amount of space between vehicles while traveling.

For road and weather conditions, contact INDOT Road Conditions at (800) 261-7623 or click here.
