Indiana Rep. Brooks Urges More Women in Politics

CINCINNATI (AP): An Indiana congresswoman active in efforts to get more women involved in politics says female voters wouldn't necessarily choose Hillary Rodham Clinton for president.
 
Republican Representative Susan Brooks says she thinks women will back the strongest leader with the best ideas, regardless of gender. However, she would like to see a female on both national tickets in 2016.
 
She's been participating in events in other states about the need for more women in politics, and plans to encourage female students to consider political careers when she speaks Monday evening at Miami University, her alma mater in southwest Ohio.
 
Brooks and Jackie Walorski became the first Republican women in Indiana's congressional delegation in half a century after winning 2012 elections.
 
Women hold about 18 percent of the seats in Congress.
