VERSAILLES, Ind. (AP): Indiana’s second-largest state park has opened a new campground that’s designed just for equestrians and their horses.

Versailles State Park’s equestrian campground has nine primitive campsites for riders and their horses, each with a hitching post, picnic table and fire ring.

Visitors to the rural southeastern Indiana campground also have access to a toilet, and potable water available from a hydrant.

No advance reservations are needed for the campsites, which cost $13 per night.

Versailles State Park covers nearly 6,000 acres and has 25 miles of bridle trails. It’s located about 45 miles west of Cincinnati, Ohio.

The idea for the campground came from local riders and the Indiana Trail Riders Association. Volunteers secured $60,000 from Lawrenceburg and Rising Sun foundations for the project.
