Indiana Officials Ask Motorists to Beware Slippery Roads

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (AP) – Indiana Department of Transportation officials are advising motorists be careful of slippery conditions as bitter cold follows a snowstorm that dropped more than 8 inches of snow in some areas.

The National Weather Service reports 8.5 inches of snow fell in Bedford on Monday, 7.1 inches fell in Odon in Daviess County and Evansville received nearly 6 inches. The weather service says a quick moving system could bring up to an inch of new snow on Tuesday.

Many school districts in southern Indiana canceled classes because of treacherous driving conditions. A winter travel warning remained in effect in Clark County directing residents to refrain from travel. Eleven other southern Indiana counties are under travel watches and more than three dozen counties have issued travel advisories.
