FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO):  With another day of extremely warm temperatures expected today, the race to restore power continues.  Indiana Michigan Power officials reported over 40,000 customers were without power following Monday night’s severe storms that ripped through Northern Indiana, and in less than 24 hours I&M has restored power to nearly 15,000 of those.

In Fort Wayne specific, the cities southwest side and Waynedale areas remain to be some of the most affected as estimates from AEP say that power in those areas can be expected to return by 11 P.M. Thursday Night. Crews from all across the Midwest are continuing to work to restore power as over 145 broken or damage power poles, more than 20 transformers, and 350 individual power lines were all damaged amid the strong storms.

As of Wednesday Morning, over 23,000 are still without power.

I live in Fort Wayne 46804, this is terrible on top of having this high heat and humidity, all my food I had in the refrigerator, I had to throw it all out even freezer stuff, I had just got it on Sunday and Monday. What a waste of money. We don’t even have water because of a pump, it all takes electricity. I been feeling sick and draining with sweat, I haven’t had no sleep. I can not wait to get power back on.
