Indiana Leaders Meeting Daily, Draw Close on Measures

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) _ Gov. Mike Pence and the leaders of the General Assembly are meeting daily to hammer out a series of compromises before the close of their 2013 session.

Republican Senate President Pro Tem David Long and Republican House Speaker Brian Bosma said Tuesday they have been working on a wide range of issues with the governor.

Lawmakers are hoping to wrap up work Friday. But a series of key issues have yet to be worked out. They include the shape of the state’s biennial budget.

Bosma said he expects lawmakers to pass measure directing Indiana utility regulators to again review the proposed Rockport coal-gasification plant in southern Indiana. An expansion of school vouchers and potential expansion of gambling also are being worked on.
