Indiana Jobless Rate Continues Downward Trend

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) – Indiana's unemployment rate has continued its downward trend, falling slightly to 7.3 percent for November.

Figures released Friday by the state Department of Workforce Development show Indiana's jobless rate fell two-tenths of a percentage point last month.

The new report shows about 230,000 people were looking for jobs last month in Indiana. That's some 25,000 fewer job seekers than a year ago when the state's unemployment rate was more than a percentage point higher.

State officials say Indiana gained about 25,000 private-sector jobs in November, with the construction and manufacturing sectors among those adding workers.

Indiana's employment rate remains slightly higher than the national rate of 7.0 percent, but lower than its four neighboring states.
