Indiana Governor: Pence Proposals

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) – Republican gubernatorial candidate Mike Pence says he wants to promote marriage by analyzing how state regulations impact families.

Pence includes the idea in a “roadmap” he released Wednesday. The policy outline also calls for better education options for families that adopt children and improve law enforcement training.

The Republican congressman says the state should add “family impact statements” to state regulations.

Spokeswoman Christy Denault declined to release details about the ideas Wednesday. She says the campaign will explain what they mean in the coming weeks.

Pence is running against Democrat John Gregg and Libertarian Rupert Boneham for governor.

Pence has largely avoided social issues throughout the election. He has talked most instead about tax cuts, vocational education and plans to bring more coordination between Indiana colleges and businesses.
