Indiana Excise Officers Arrest 55 at Motocross Race

CRAWFORDSVILLE, Ind. (AP) – Indiana State Excise Police say they arrested 55 people at a central Indiana motocross event over the weekend.

Officers say 44 of the arrests at the 19th Annual AMSOIL Ironman Grand National Cross Country off-track race were for minor possession or consumption of alcoholic beverages.

Cpl. Travis Thickstun says officers arrested 20 people on 23 charges Friday and 35 people on 37 charges on Saturday.

Thickstun says those arrested also face charges including possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, furnishing alcohol to a minor, false informing, and juveniles in possession of tobacco.

Thickstun says more than 10,000 people attended the event featuring races across flat land and natural and man-made hills in open fields and wooded areas.
