Indiana Details Possible Routes of I-69’s Final Segment

INDIANAPOLIS (AP): Central Indiana residents whose homes or businesses could be impacted by the final leg of the Evansville-to-Indianapolis Interstate 69 extension have received their first look at more than a dozen possible routes that segment could take through Indianapolis' south side.

The Indiana Department of Transportation held public meetings Monday and Tuesday to detail 14 possible routes being considered for the stretch that will run between Martinsville and Indianapolis.

Those routes include Indiana 37, which federal and state officials identified in 2004 as the best possible route to complete the roughly extension.

INDOT spokesman Will Wingfield says the agency will study all 14 potential routes. He says INDOT is expected to announce its preferred route for the highway's final segment in early 2017.
