Indiana Couple Plans to Sue Over Wheelchair Accident

JEFFERSONVILLE, Ind. (AP) _ The parents of a 7-year-old southern Indiana girl injured when her wheelchair fell from a school bus' motorized lift plan to sue two school districts for negligence.

A tort claim filed Monday in Clark County indicates Julianna Stone's parents intend to sue the Clarksville and Greater Clark County school districts.

Officials with both districts have declined to comment.

The Courier-Journal of Louisville, Ky., reports the claim says the girl suffered a broken nose and a dislodged feeding tube in the Aug. 5 fall.

The claim says a bus driver loading the youngster in her wheelchair didn't wait for a bus aide to move the girl from the lift before lowering it. That caused the girl and her chair to fall face-first at least four feet onto the ground.
