INDIANAPOLIS (WOWO): The Indiana Board of Pharmacy has passed emergency rules banning four different kinds of compounds used in synthetic drugs, like Spice and K2. According to the National Institute on Drug Abuse, Spice products are only second to marijuana in the use of illicit drugs by young people because of its easy access, the misconception that it’s “natural,” and it’s not easily detected on drug tests. The Board works with Indiana State Police to identify compounds used in synthetic drugs. The rules passed will extend to next year, which will allow the Legislature the opportunity to enact them into law.
