Indiana Authorities Recapture Two Released Inmates

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) _ Police in Indianapolis have recaptured two men who were mistakenly released from the Marion County Jail.

WRTV and The Indianapolis Star report that Chester Irons and Ronald Johnson were back in custody Friday. Authorities say Irons walked out of jail six days ago, and Johnson did so the following day.

Authorities believe a computer glitch caused the error. The jail staff is double-checking computer data against paper records as a precaution.

Irons was being held on preliminary charges of criminal confinement, domestic battery, battery and resisting law enforcement. Johnson was being held on preliminary charges of theft and receiving stolen property. Both men were arrested June 7. It isn't clear whether either has an attorney.

Sheriff's Department officials say they're confident the glitches are being worked out.
