Indiana Adds New Names To Suit Against Sports Club

LAFAYETTE, Ind. (AP) _ Indiana's attorney general has added the names of more than a dozen alleged victims to the state's lawsuit against the owner of a sports club.

Attorney General Greg Zoeller recently amended his suit against International Sports Clubs owner Paul Fortwendel to add the names of 16 former gym members.

Zoeller is now seeking restitution for a total of 28 alleged victims as well as civil penalties totaling $154,000.

The Journal & Courier reports (http://on.jconline.com/1sUOLro ) Zoeller's suit contends that Fortwendel cheated the gym members when they tried to discontinue or alter their memberships.

The state's amended suit cites a variety of deceptive consumer sales tactics that Fortwendel allegedly used against his customers.

Court records indicate that Fortwendel has yet to formally respond to Zoeller's complaint.
