Inaugural Dragon Boat Races in Fort Wayne Saturday

FORT WAYNE, In. (WOWO): A different kind of boat race is coming to Fort Wayne this weekend.

The first ever Dragon Boat Races will take place Saturday at Headwaters Park West.

Typical dragon boats are 46 inches long and feature 20 paddlers, a steersman, and a drummer, whose job is to keep the bat going to synchronize the paddlers.

Boaters will paddle a course that's 300 meters long on the St. Mary's River beginning at Headwaters Park West and ending at the Wells Street Bridge.

The races start at 9:00 Saturday morning. You can find out more at http://riverpaloozafw.org/.
