I&M Announces New Transmission Line Route in Fort Wayne

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): Indiana Michigan Power has announced they have finalized the route that a new transmission line will run to and from in Fort Wayne.

The $50 million improvement project would run about 2 miles southwest of downtown Fort Wayne.

The route would connect the new Melita Substation, which is located near Melita and South Harrison Streets, west to the existing Hadley-McKinley transmission circuit located a little east of the intersection of Jefferson and Catalpa.

The line would run mostly along the railroad tracks south of Jefferson.

The new Melita Substation will replace the Webster Substation, which has been in service since the 1920s and has outdated infrastructure.
