NOBLE COUNTY, Ind. (WOWO) _ Stay out of Jones Lake.
That's the message coming from the Indiana Department of Environmental Management, warning people and their pets to stay out of the water following a ferric chloride leak from a Wolcottville wastewater plant. Officials say up to 1,400 gallons of the chemical, which can cause harm to anyone who comes into to contact with or swallows it, may have gotten into the north branch of the Elkhart River Wednesday. Jones Lake is downriver from there.
IDEM says the chemical should settle in the lake after a couple of days.
