Hundreds Attend Funeral for Elkhart Soldier

GRANGER, Ind. (AP): More than 700 people filled a northern Indiana church for the funeral of a soldier killed last month along with five other soldiers in a helicopter crash in Afghanistan.

Friday's funeral services at Granger Community Church for 30-year-old Army Staff Sgt. Jesse Lee Williams of Elkhart was followed by graveside services at Rice Cemetery in Elkhart.

U.S. Sen. Joe Donnelly and U.S. Rep. Jackie Walorski were among 700-800 mourners who attended Williams' funeral.

The Elkhart resident was aboard a Black Hawk transport helicopter when it crashed Dec. 17 in Afghanistan, killing all six soldiers aboard the aircraft.
