FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): It's a 65 year sentence for 18-year-old Deadrian Boykins.
He was found guilty in the shooting death of 17-year-old Elijah Freeman.
Shots were fired back in April, at a home on Hugh Street. According to the Journal Gazette, Freeman was house-sitting at the Hugh Street home, when he went out on the porch to smoke a cigarette. He was shot to death moments later.
Boykins testified in his own defense, telling the jury he had been at home the time of the shooting, 12:30 p.m. His mother also testified she saw him their when the shots were said to have been fired. However, under cross-examination, she said she likely was asleep until 2:00 p.m. that day, as was her normal routine.
