How to register to vote in Indiana and Ohio

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): The 2016 election season starts Monday night with the Iowa Caucus, when the first votes in the presidential races will be cast.

Now that election season is upon us, potential voters in the greater Fort Wayne area may want to take the time to register to vote.

Indiana residents have until April 4 to register to vote for the Indiana primary, which is May 3.

The Ohio primary is March 15, which means Ohio residents have until Feb. 16 to register.

The 2016 general election is Nov. 8, and both Indiana and Ohio residents have until Oct. 11 to register.

HOW TO REGISTER TO VOTE IN INDIANA

  • Online
  • Download the application and mail it in
  • In person at the BMV, your county’s voter registration office, at the Indiana Election Division or at local voter registration drives.

HOW TO REGISTER TO VOTE IN OHIO

  • Download the form, mail it in and include either an OH driver’s license number, the last four digits of Social Security number, a valid photo identification card, military card or a recent utility bill, bank statement or paycheck dated in the last 12 months.
  • Download the form and drop it off in person at the BMV, Board of Elections offices, an Ohio public library, and public high school, vocational school, county treasurer office and other state offices.
