Housing For IU Cancer Therapy Patients To Close

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (AP) _ The pending closure of an Indiana University facility where cancer patients are treated with proton therapy is also shuttering the site where many of those patients stay during their treatments.

Officials with Jill's House announced Thursday that the 25-room housing complex will close Dec. 31, the same day the IU Health Proton Therapy Center and IU Cyclotron close their doors.

Jill's House board president Bonnie Patton says in a statement that the center has touched the lives of more than 600 cancer patients and their families since it opened to cancer patients in 2008.

Board vice president Larry Allen tells The Herald-Times (http://bit.ly/1nA1MkY ) that before closing, Jill's House hopes to welcome former guests, volunteers, and supporters to an event to celebrate its six years of service.
