Honor Flight Trip Underway

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO):  Honor Flight 13 has left the Fort Wayne Air National Guard Base, escorting World War II veterans to Washington DC to visit the memorials honoring their sacrifices to this country through military service.

On this flight is WOWO's Bob Chase.  His escort this afternoon is talk show host Pat Miller.  Honor Flight Northeast Indiana is an independent hub of the Honor Flight network.  They raise private funds to fly WWII veterans directly from Fort Wayne to Washington DC, where motor coaches transport them to the memorials made in their honor.  The trip takes the entire day before they're flown back home.  Nationwide, over 1,000 World War 2 veterans leave this world every day.  The organization says time is limited, and it's now or never to honor these veterans.

If you wanted to wish them a warm welcome home, you can join the rest of the WOWO staff at the Fort Wayne International Airport at 9 p.m. tonight in the main terminal.   The reception is open to the public.
