Homestead Allows Freshman to Skip Second Semester PE Class

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): New freshmen at Homestead High School can skip their second semester of physical education if they are already engaged in other sports outside of school.

Southwest Allen County Schools approved the waiver on Tuesday.

According to the Journal Gazette, the physical education waiver for PE II applies to students who participate in any Indiana High School Athletic Association sports program, including cheer leading, marching band, color/winter guard, dance, or show choir.

Any student who uses the waiver must also take both a midterm and final exam on fitness and wellness concepts.

About 150 out of the 550 incoming freshman at Homestead are expected to take advantage of the waiver.
