Holiday Fun Can Mean Trouble for Pets

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): With the plethora of decorations in American homes, the holidays pose many potential dangers for your pet.

In order to keep your dogs and cats safe, homeowners are reminded to make sure breakable ornaments, tinsel, and garland are out of reach.

The Humane Society also recommends bowls of candy and snacks to be put away at the end of the day, as most items can be poisonous and at the least, cause stomach issues.

Aside from food, a houseful of guests can cause anxiety for some pets. The Humane Society recommends party hosts to consider your pet's personality and make sure they are calm before mingling with guests.

Have a rambunctious pet? Before putting your pets outside in the cold for an extended period, keep in mind the temperature and weather conditions. It's also a good idea to double up on tags and collars in case your pet decides to escape.
