Historic Indiana Mansion to be Featured on NBC

VINCENNES, Ind. (AP): The one-time Indiana home of the nation's ninth president will be getting widespread exposure in an upcoming episode of NBC's “Parks and Recreation.”

The series starring Amy Poehler that's set in the fictional city of Pawnee, Indiana, will include in its Jan. 20 episode a visit to “Grouseland,” the mansion William Henry Harrison called home when he was governor of the Indiana territory.

Grouseland executive director Lisa Ice-Jones says she's thrilled the mansion built in 1800 will be featured in the show.

A film crew for “Parks and Recreation” filmed the mansion during a visit to Vincennes, but a set was built in Studio City, California, to resemble the mansion's interior.

Harrison lived at Grouseland from 1804 until 1812. He was elected U.S. president in 1840.
