Hinkle Fiedlhouse Seats Up for Sale

INDIANA, (WOWO): You might be able to take home some seats from Hinkle Fieldhouse. Butler University is selling some of the seats removed from the historic fieldhouse as part of its renovation for $100 each.

Butler season ticket holders will have first crack at the seats starting at 1:00 p.m., Friday afternoon, with the remainder available for the general public beginning at 11:00 a.m., on Saturday.

“The way it is broken down is that some pieces are one seat, some are two seats connected or three seats connected,” said Mike Freeman, associate athletic director at Butler. “There are around 200 total products.”

The seats are not original to the arena built in 1927. They were added during a previous renovation. “These are some of the seats that were in the lower level for the last 25 years, from 1989 through 2014,” said Freeman.   Butler has partnered with the People for Urban Progress (PUP), which will split the proceeds with the university – Butler will use its share on the $34 million Hinkle renovation, which is scheduled to be completed in October. PUP is also getting some of the seats that have been removed and will turn them into IndyGo bus stop seats; they did the same with old seats from Bush Stadium in Indianapolis when the old ballpark was turned into an apartment complex.
