Help Sought in Finding Elkhart Woman

ELKHART, Ind. (AP) _ The family of a northern Indiana woman who disappeared last week is asking for help in finding her.

Police say a van belonging to 39-year-old Anastacia Cortes Reyes of Elkhart was found burned over the weekend in the nearby town of Wakarusa.

Reveriano Ortega says he last talked with his wife on Aug. 26 while he was at work and she was shopping at an Elkhart grocery store. Ortega says he reported her missing the next morning after he woke up and found she hadn't returned from work.

Relative Maria Arroyo tells The Elkhart Truth that Reyes isn't someone who would leave her 8- and 6-year-old daughters.

Relatives, friends and community members have been placing flyers and organizing search parties in attempts to find Reyes.
