Heavy Rains, Hail, Tornadoes Possible over Indiana

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) – Forecasters say another round of severe weather is poised to sweep across Indiana with heavy rains, large hail and the threat of tornadoes.

Strong thunderstorms had pushed into western Indiana on Thursday morning and other storms that formed over Illinois were headed toward the state.

The National Weather Service says all of Indiana is facing an “enhanced risk'' of hail, damaging winds and tornadoes. The best chance of severe storms is from mid-afternoon into Thursday night.

Severe thunderstorms that raked central and southern Indiana on Wednesday dumped large hail and heavy rainfall that caused localized flooding.

Authorities in Pittsboro just west of Indianapolis say a 75-year-old woman died overnight after she was swept into a flooded creek in her front yard. Her body was found about a mile downstream.
