SCOTT COUNTY, Ind. (WOWO): State health officials are now reporting a total of 89 cases of HIV- related cases (84 confirmed and five preliminary positive cases) as of Friday, April 4th.
The Indiana Department of Homeland of Security has opened a One-Stop Shop a Community Outreach Center, located at 2277 W. Frontage Road, in Austin. It provides HIV testing, care coordination and substance abuse referrals along with vaccinations against tetanus, Hepatitis A and B.
The Center is open from 9:00 a.m., to 6:00 p.m., Monday through Saturday, and noon to 6 p.m. on Sunday.
Last month, Governor Mike Pence also signed a comprehensive emergency executive order, declaring a public health emergency in Scott County and permitting Scott County Health Department to design and administer a limited and focused short-term needle exchange program. The program will be implemented under the supervision of the Indiana State Department of Health and will expire on April 25th.
