Health department now accepting credit/debit cards for permit payments…

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – Customers of the Fort Wayne-Allen County Department of Health can already use credit and debit cards to pay for medical services and certified birth and death certificates.

Now, customers can use those same cards to pay for all environmental health services including fees for permits, renewals and testing.

The Department of Health has worked with GovPay to accept this form of payment for its environmental health services, including operating permits and renewals for food service, tattooing/body piercing, septic systems and public swimming pools.

Patrons can still pay by cash or money order. But major credit cards, including Visa®, MasterCard®, Discover® and American Express®, will also be accepted. For credit card payments, GovPay will charge a convenience fee based on the amount of the transaction.

The Department of Health’s environmental health programs are primarily located on the third floor of Citizens Square, 200 E. Berry St. The office is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
