Headwaters Park Alliance Purchases Chiller for Ice Rink

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): This afternoon, Geoff Paddock, Executive Director of the Headwaters Park Alliance, held a press conference to announce the purchase of a new chiller for the Headwaters Park Ice Skating Rink.

Back in December 2012, the old refrigerator unit broke down and after ten years of service, it was beyond repair, so the Headwaters Park Alliance spent $20,000 to lease a unit for the rest of the season.

This year, thanks to many donors, the Alliance has purchased a new chiller.  The new unit will help with opening the 11th ice skating season on Friday November 22 at 5:00 p.m., and it’ll also help keep the ice intact when temperatures rise, potentially extending the skating season by a few weeks.
