FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): A little hard work really paid off for a Fort Wayne high school student.

Earl Davis of Fort Wayne drove past Demarco Bailey who was training to make the Northside freshman football team when something caught his eye. The 15-year-old was jogging with training equipment he made with chains and tires, according to a Facebook post.

Davis, also known as Coach Earl, asked if the boy played football before. He said no because his family couldn’t afford it. Davis invited the boy to work out with his sons who have sleds, parachutes, resistant bands and weights.

The man posted about the conversation on Facebook and said the best part of the conversation was that Bailey kept working.

“Best part of all, the whole conversation took place while he was still jogging.,” Davis said on Facebook. “He said ‘sorry to be rude coach but you gotta drive while I jog, I gotta stay moving.'”

The Facebook post was shared more than 38,000 times and has more than 25,000 likes as of 11:30 a.m. Wednesday.

About $8,000 was donated to a GoFundMe Page that was set up for the boy.
