Groupon Campaign Secures Vests for 10 FWPD K9 Dogs

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): A national Groupon campaign has allowed the Fort Wayne Police Department K9s to be properly outfitted.

Over $39,000 was raised in the nationwide “Goods Pet Collection” campaign to provide bullet and stab protective vests to K9 dogs in police departments across the country. 100% of the $10 donation campaign went to the ballistic vests.

Out of what was raised, the Fort Wayne Police Department was awarded a $10,500 grant to outfit 10 of their K9s.

Vested Interest in K9s started the campaign in memory of K9 Kye, who was stabbed to death while trying to subdue a burglary suspect last year in Oklahoma City. They're still taking donations. For more information, click here.
