Grand Wayne Center expansion ruled not necessary “for foreseeable future”

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): A study on some property recently bought by the Fort Wayne-Allen County Capital Improvement Board says the time to expand the Grand Wayne Center onto that land is “not right now.”

The Board spent $58,500 on the analysis by Convention, Sports & Leisure International on what’s called the “fast food block,” which is a parcel of land just west of the Grand Wayne Center that hosts several restaurants.

They bought the land for $6-million three months ago with plans to eventually expand the Center onto it, but the study ruled there is no need for additional space for “the foreseeable future,” according to the News-Sentinel.

The firm also added that an increasingly-active downtown spurred on by developments currently underway could change things.
