Governor Pence Requests Meeting with President to Discuss HIP 2.0

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (WOWO): Governor Mike Pence has sent a letter to President Barack Obama, one day before the President’s visit to Evansville. In the letter, sent Thursday, Governor Pence requested a meeting with the President to discuss the State of Indiana’s pending application with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to expand coverage for about 350,000 uninsured Hoosiers through the Healthy Indiana Plan (HIP) 2.0. In the letter, the Governor writes:

The Healthy Indiana Plan operates today under a one-year waiver set to end on December 31, 2014. With so many Hoosiers actively awaiting the outcome of our HIP 2.0 application, it is imperative that we achieve timely approval of our waiver application. To that end, I would welcome the opportunity to meet with you briefly on this important matter upon your arrival in Indiana, or at your earliest convenience. For the sake of low-income families in my state, I will continue to work in good faith with your administration to expand access to the Healthy Indiana Plan.”
