Governor Pence Proclaims Thursday, December 11, 2014 as Statehood Day in Indiana

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (WOWO): Governor Mike Pence has signed a proclamation declaring Thursday, December 11th, 2014, as Statehood Day in the state of Indiana.


Indiana has a remarkable history that illustrates for the world the strength, inventiveness, and compassion of the Hoosier spirit,” said Governor Pence. “I look forward to joining Hoosier fourth graders, who are in the midst of studying our state’s storied past, and celebrating another tremendous year for Indiana.”

 

According to a press release issued by the Governor's Office, to mark the 198th anniversary of Indiana becoming the nineteenth state in the Union, the Governor and First Lady Karen Pence will welcome Hoosier fourth graders to stations in the Statehouse Rotunda on Thursday, December 11 as part of the annual Statehood Day events.
