Governor Mike Pence’s 2015 State of the State Address

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (WOWO): Indiana Governor Mike Pence delivered his 2015 State of the State remarks Tuesday night.

Chatter of Pence possibly being a potential candidate for President in 2016 has surfaced, but Pence didn't use his time to talk much of 2016. Instead the Governor promoted his proposals for boosting Indiana's charter schools and private school voucher program, he talked job growth, and touted Indiana’s fiscal discipline.

“Together we’ve made Indiana the fiscal envy of the country,” said Pence. “We’ve balanced budgets, funded our priorities, maintained strong reserves, and still passed the largest state tax cut in Indiana history.”

However, when it comes to Indiana being the state that works, he says Hoosiers deserve all the credit.

“But let’s be clear, our state has never been stronger not because of her government, but because of her people. They just don’t come any better than Hoosiers: hardworking, patriotic, modest, and generous to those in need.”

He then went on to say that nowhere is the character of Hoosiers more evident than in those who wear the uniform.

Tonight, Hoosiers will be proud to know that on the front lines of that war are some 300 airmen with our 122nd Fighter Wing out of Fort Wayne—the largest deployment of the Indiana Air National Guard in the past ten years.”
