Governor Announces Support for Tim Berry for State Republican Party Chairman

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (WOWO): This afternoon, Governor Mike Pence released the following statements on his recommendations to the Indiana Republican State Executive Committee for State Party Chairman, Vice Chairman and Executive Director:

For State Chairman – State Auditor Tim Berry of <st1:city w_st=”on”>Fort Wayne 

“Having won four statewide elections, Tim Berry knows what it takes to run successful campaigns in Indiana. Tim is a cheerful leader who is well known throughout the state to Hoosier Republicans and will help our party grow as we work towards our goal of making <st1:place w_st=”on”>Indiana 'the State that Works.'”

Re-Elected Indiana's 54th State Auditor in November of 2010, Tim Berry serves as the Chief Financial Officer for the State of Indiana. Auditor Berry is a committed fiscal conservative who keeps taxpayers first in recognizing that they deserve a government that is equipped to do more with less. As <st1:city w_st=”on”>Allen County <st1:state w_st=”on”>Treasurer, Berry cut budget expenditures to the lowest cost per capita of any treasurer in <st1:place w_st=”on”>Indiana.

Under the leadership of Tim Berry, in late fall of 2009 <st1:state w_st=”on”>Indiana successfully implemented a fully integrated financial system – the first of its kind for all of <st1:state w_st=”on”>Indiana government, providing more efficient and transparent government operations. Additionally, Indiana's annual financial reports have received the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting – the highest standard available – from the Government Finance Officers Association each year of <st1:state w_st=”on”>Berry's tenure as State Auditor.

Prior to his election as State Auditor, Tim served two terms as <st1:place w_st=”on”>Indiana's Treasurer. In that role, Berry earned a record $1.7 billion for Hoosier taxpayers through the prudent investment of state dollars. Berry led the effort to obtain favorable legislation providing tax incentives for families saving for college through the College Choice 529 plan.

Tim Berry's leadership has been recognized by many in <st1:place w_st=”on”>Indiana and across the country. Berry was awarded the 2005 Jesse Unruh award, given to the nation's most outstanding state treasurer. Additionally, he was presented the 2003 Presidential Award of Excellence by the Association of Public Safety Officials, and he is the recipient of the American Heart Association's “Heartsaver Award.” Tim Berry is a graduate of Wayne <st1:placename w_st=”on”>High School in Fort Wayne and a life-long member of Trinity <st1:placename w_st=”on”>English Lutheran Church in <st1:city w_st=”on”>Fort Wayne. He serves as Treasurer of the Fishers Youth Hockey Association and is an active “hockey dad.” Tim holds a Bachelors degree in Business Administration from Bowling Green State <st1:placetype w_st=”on”>University (Ohio), and a MBA from Indiana University. Tim and his wife Kim are the parents of two sons, Ian a student at Craig Middle School and Colin a student at <st1:placetype w_st=”on”>Forest Glen <st1:placename w_st=”on”>Elementary School in <st1:placename w_st=”on”>Lawrence Township. Since 2001, Kim has served as the State Director of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

For Vice Chairman – Misty Dees Hollis of <st1:city w_st=”on”>Richmond

Background on Misty Dees Hollis

<st1:place w_st=”on”>Former Wayne <st1:placename w_st=”on”>County Republican Party Chairman and current Vice Chair of the 6th Congressional District, Misty knows her way around local, county and state Republican Party politics.  Currently serving as a Councilor at-large in the Richmond Common Council, Misty has worked to make economic development a priority in the community.

Misty received her Bachelor of Social Science from Indiana University-East in Richmond.

For Executive Director – Kyle Robertson of <st1:city w_st=”on”>Indianapolis

“Kyle Robertson served as my campaign manager and has directed my political operations for over three and a half years. Kyle is a seasoned political strategist who has directed several successful campaigns in over a dozen states from local, state, congressional and all the way up to the gubernatorial level.”

Background on Kyle Robertson 

Kyle Robertson is a veteran political strategist and served as campaign manager of the Mike Pence for Indiana in the 2012 election cycle.  

Previously, Kyle managed Blaine Luetkemeyer's successful congressional victory in Missouri's 9th district and oversaw eight states in the Midwest for the National Republican Congressional Committee as a Regional Political Director in the 2006 cycle. In 2004, Kyle directed the largest congressional field organization in the country while serving as Political Director in Congressman Geoff Davis' victory over celebrity George Clooney's Dad, Nick, in <st1:place w_st=”on”>Kentucky's 4th district.

Kyle, his wife Mary, and dog named Mickey live in <st1:place w_st=”on”>Indianapolis. </st1:place>

Governor Pence will offer his recommendation for RNC Committeewoman in the coming days.
