General Motors Fort Wayne Assembly Plant is Making History

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): This one goes down in the record books as the General Motors Fort Wayne Assembly plant is the first automotive plant in North America to generate electricity from landfill gas.

According to our partners in news at 21 Alive, GM has been burning landfill gas since 2002, but has been successfully using it to power their facility since May 29th. GM celebrated the accomplishment with a ribbon cutting ceremony Wednesday afternoon.
